When I write I always use a pencil
That way I can always return to a clean white sheet of paper
And I never tie my shoes
When you try to run away from yourself there is no use

My pockets are full of things I never need
I'm not going anywhere
And there is too much empty space in my life
To fill everything with something meaningful

My cup is always empty
Cause then I can stay thirsty for another while
The day is over before I'm ready
So I stay hungry just to fool my appetite

My hands are made out of water
I can't seem to hold on to anything
But if you give me time! If you give me time
I can be a river
Forever reaching out to the big sea

I blame the night for giving me the day
You give me hope and then you brutally just take it away
So I sleep on the floor to avoid the transition
Of losing and receiving

My time is just like a pearl necklace
Past & future- it all just looks the same
And it breaks my heart to think it is a circle
Or even worse: Just a line that has an end

But you know, the worst thing of it all:
Desire is the only thing I want
And there is not enough space in this world
To surround the emptiness in me
